help the crew raise the sails as we cruise through historic Salem
Sound.
At night, you can enjoy an elegant evening of dockside cocktails
and hors d'oeuvres in a unique and attractive setting. Our schooner
is an ideal venue for any reception or party with a maritime or
historic theme.
Both on-the-water and dockside charters can include snacks,

Sail Training
What better place to learn the maritime arts than aboard FAME, a
proud member of the American Sail Training Association? If you and
your group are interested in learning how to sail traditional
vessels, we're delighted to provide professional instruction. Our
experienced and capable crew will teach you to "hand, reef, and
steer." You'll learn the rudiments of navigation in the same waters
where Salem's own Nathaniel Bowditch got his start. Once you've
learned a chantey or two and can tie a bowline, a square knot, and
a clove hitch, you'll never look the same way at a sailing vessel
again.
Cost: Base rate for two hours (longer cruises
available) plus instructor's fee
Team-Building & Management Classes
Bring your team together for an experience that will both
educate and entertain. Aboard FAME, you'll find that not even the
saltiest of old-time sailors can do it all himself. Sailing is all
about teamwork -- about understanding what to do and when to do it,
and knowing your role on the smoothly-running team that brings a
vessel from port to port across the trackless and sometimes hostile
ocean.
We offer consultant-led programs, but we can also work with you
to design your own day at sea. Your group will learn how to
navigate, handle the sails, and steer a course... all through a
fun, hands-on curriculum that emphasizes the importance of teamwork
and cooperation in any group endeavor.
Cost: Base rate for three hours (longer cruises
available) plus instructor's fee
Pirate Parties...
Take your little (or not-so-little) pirate and up to 15 friends
on a birthday sail they'll remember all their lives. Pirate
costumes, a custom-made cake, and special party favors are all
included in the price. One adult chaperone is required for every
six children who are under 12. Total charter party is not to exceed
25.
Cost: Base rate for two hours plus $100.
...With Buried Treasure!
On this special four-hour charter, you and your pirate pals will
set sail for Misery Island, row ashore and hunt for buried
treasure! Pirate costumes, a custom-made cake, party favors and
state park admission are all included in the price. One adult
chaperone with a wristwatch is required for every four children who
are under 12. Total charter party is not to exceed 25. Not
available on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays in July and August.
Cost: Base rate for four hours plus $150.
Storytelling Cruises
Do you like ghost stories? Tales of shipwreck and piracy? The
North Shore enjoys a wealth of talented storytellers, role-players
and reenactors, each of whose lore and wisdom is magnified by the
salt air on board FAME. Build a custom cruise around the
storyteller of your choice!
Cost: Base rate for two hours (longer cruises
available) plus the storyteller's fee.
[List of storytellers, specialties, and fees TBA]
Reenactments and Races
We rarely pass up the chance to participate in a historical
reenactment, an exciting race with other traditional sailing vessels,
or a Tall Ships event. Among the upcoming events we expect to
participate in are the Gloucester Schooner Race, held annually on Labor
Day weekend; the Provincetown Schooner Regatta, held annually in
mid-September; the seasonal turnarounds of the USS Constitution;
and the Provincetown Schooner Regatta, held annually in mid-September
Camps for Kids & Adults
We offer week-long sail training camps for both children and adults.
For more on our children's programs, click on the "Summer Camp" link at
the bottom of this page. Our adult programs offer a different port
every night for a week as FAME cruises the waters of New England. Click
the "Contact Us' link if you'd like to have a brochure for either of
these programs mailed to you.
Occasionally, there may be opportunities to make day-long or
even overnight trips aboard FAME as she travels to other ports for
special events.
Whenever FAME is scheduled to participate in a special event, we will inform
the public and make tickets available on a first-come, first-served
basis. Be sure to check our "Upcoming Events" page often!
Since each event is unique, pricing will vary.
