DIRECTIONS If you prefer to use Mapquest (www.mapquest.com) enter our address as 57 Wharf Street, Salem, MA. Mapquest will give you a printable map and even provide driving directions from wherever you’re coming from.
To Pickering Wharf Marina from Boston and
Points South: Take Route 1 North to Route 128 North (toward Gloucester). Make sure you stay on Route 128 North rather than get on Route 95 North at the split. Get off at Exit 25A opposite the North Shore Mall and follow Route 114 toward Salem and Marblehead. PAY ATTENTION because 114 turns left and right, etc. Follow 114 into Salem until you come to a large open intersection with the Salem Post Office (very big brick building) and a traffic island with a bunch of white flagpoles on your right. Here, 114 takes a right to Marblehead, but you want to go straight. The first light is Lafayette -- go straight through. The second intersection (no light) is Congress. The new Salem Waterfront Hotel and the Pickering Wharf complex are across the street and to your right. Now is the time to look around for parking (there are some parking spaces right inside the Pickering Wharf complex, but don't count on finding an empty one). The brick building on your right at the corner of Congress and Derby Street is a parking garage. If you take a right on Congress, you'll soon cross a small bridge, and you'll see a larger lot on your right. The Pickering Wharf complex is made up of several buildings containing shops and restaurants. The entrance to the Marina is next to the Victoria Station restaurant. Points East: Follow Route 128 South to the exit for Route 1A, and follow Route 1A through Beverly, over the bridge, and into Salem. Continue down Route 1A, also known as Bridge Street in Salem, until you get to the blinking light with signs for "Museums and Historical Attractions". Go left onto Winter Street. At the end of the block, when the street ends, go right. You will have the Salem Common on your left. Stay to your left at the fork with the large statue in it. You will pass the Hawthorne Hotel on your left. Go straight through the lights in front of the hotel and you will find yourself at the intersection of Congress Street and Derby Street, with the new hotel and the Pickering Wharf complex across the street to your left. Now is the time to look around for a parking spot (see above). To Pickering Wharf Marina from Maine, New
Hampshire, and Points North Follow Route 95 or 93, as the case may be, to Route 128 North. If you came down 93, make sure you stay on Route 128 North rather than get on Route 95 North at the split. Follow Route 128 North to Exit 25A opposite the North Shore Mall and follow directions above. |
